
| As was the case all across the United States, the 2007 pumpkin crop was below normal. After two of the grand-babies picked out theirs, only a few were left for autumn decorations. Cornstalks (recycled from the garden after the corn was harvested) tied around the mailbox post along with two pumpkins provide a seasonal decoration and welcome. |

| Pumpkins! Pumpkin plants are self-pollinating. The have both male and female blossoms, the female blossoms produce the pumpkins. |
Pumpkins are fun and easy to grow. They require lots of water and sometimes the vines need to be re-routed to keep them in the garden. Otherwise, they don't require much maintenance. Other than the drought, the biggest problem encountered this year was the cardinals pulling up the seeds after they discovered the sunflower seeds planted nearby! |
